As part of a major refurbishment project undertaken by the College of West Anglia, GVI Facades installed some 1200m2 of EPS insulation and render to the existing building envelope. Over a period of 10 weeks our team completely transformed the once cold and worn building into a modern comfortable education facility.

To achieve the new facade, a cladding of tapered EPS insulation, which we formed on site, was adhesively and mechanically fixed over the original uninsulated concrete panels with additional insulation fixed between new window openings. Each elevation was then basecoat rendered using machine pumped application techniques by our team of trained operatives over the 30m height of the building before an acrylic topcoat was applied to achieve the final appearance.

As can be seen from the pictures below, the quality and quantity of work performed by our operatives over the ten weeks has completely changed the skyline of the Norfolk town of Kingslynn and helped create a new facility for the community to enjoy from what was an out-dated and defunct building. This major refurbishment project highlights what is possible with modern external wall insulation (EWI) and render systems and exceeded all expectations of both the client and main contractor.
